Rural Internet Solution
July 16, 2008 by admin
Can you think of anything more frustrating than somebody misleading you? If you are reading this right now, I would imagine that you have about had it with the cable company telling you that cable internet will be in your area in the near future. They are very good at making the near future sound great; however, the problem is that the near future never comes as they promise it will.
Cable Companies Dressing up the Truth
I have spoken with many people that live in rural areas. Nearly every single one of them has had the same experience with the cable internet company and the conversation goes something like this:
“Hi, I was calling to find out when your company will have rural internet service available where I live?”
“Well, thank you for calling. I would say that we will have rural internet available in your area within the next 6 months.”
“That’s what you said 6 months ago!”
If this sounds like a conversation you have had, please accept my invitation to join the “within the next 6 months” club of people that have had the same exact experience you have.
The Truth About Why They Do Not Provide Service in Your Area
There is really only 1 major reason why the major cable companies neglect to provide rural internet services to your area.
“What is that reason?”, you ask.
NO PROFIT!!!
To the cable companies, you are a dollar figure. They make their decision based on how profitable it would be to provide service in your area. The fact is that they do not provide service in your rural area because it would not be a large enough profit for them.
In there defense, I don’t think I can blame them. After all, aren’t they running a business?
However, I do put them at fault for not being upfront and honest about it.
So, What Is The Solution?
Now that we have identified the fact that the cable companies are masters at dressing up the truth, I must admit that uncovering this fact has not presented a solution. What we have done is merely shed light on what everybody already suspected to be true.
So, where do we turn from here?
That is an excellent question and since you are reading this, I would feel it safe to assume that you already have an idea about the answer.
In any case the answer is satellite internet provided by HughesNet. This service has been providing a rural internet solution to people in your situation for well over a decade now.
Clearing Away the Myths about Satellite Internet
Myth # 1 - Satellite Internet is slow
WRONG!
Satellite internet is comparable to cable or DSL in every way. With download speeds of up to 3.0 Mbps, satellite internet could not get any closer to providing rural internet users with the equivalent of cable.
Myth # 2 – Satellite Internet is Too Expensive
WRONG AGAIN!
Over the past decade HughesNet has been able to accomplish the unthinkable. They have increased the amount of services they offer as well as the quality of services they offer and at the same time dropped their prices.
With 5 separate packages, HughesNet has a plan to fit every need and computer lifestyle.
The Happy Ending
What is the purpose of my blog entry here?
Great question. In reality, I probably could have summed up this entire blog in one sentence.
“If you can’t get cable internet where you live, satellite internet is your rural internet solution.”
However, since I am a babbling fool, I chose to expound on this topic. Anyways, the happy ending is very simple. If you are not able to receive cable or DSL where you live, then HughesNet IS the rural internet solution you have been waiting for!
